Clinics
Mountain Brook will offer several clinics through the season starting in October.  Clinics are a great way to get a ton of great information without the cost of individual lessons, although the disadvantage is the lack of one on one time with an instructor.  Each clinic will work on a specific aspect of the game, putting, driving, sand play, wedge play, and so on.  We will usually run a ladies clinic and a men's clinic weekly for a specific area of study, but on occassion mix the two if we are limited on time that week or for certain topics like sand.  Sign-up sheets are available in the pro shop, and if you have any questions please contact our director of instruction.

Update: We have been having excellent success at our clinics.  Many folks have reported back saying they have gained 20-30 yards off the tee.  Golfers who have never hit anything but a fade or slice off the tee have actually been able to hit a draw by the end of the clinic.  After the first short game clinic this year I had three people report back that they chipped in from off the green after learning our techniques.  One person told me these clinics have been the best $20 he has ever spent on his golf game.

I had an interesting question the other day, a nice lady asked me if it was better to go with private lessons or come to the clinics.  Good question and there is no right answer.  If you are uncomfortable in a learning environment that has many other people around or you want a lot of individual attention, it's best to get private lessons.  Sometimes in clinics we can't always focus on the exact thing that you need to help your game.  In a private lesson I generally give you a swing map and prescription to help you continue your work and learning after you leave, and of course scheduling is more workable.  That being said, the clinics offer a wealth of information at less than half the price of an individual lesson.  We work on fundamentals that are proven and sound, and I can honestly say that we've never had a golfer in any of our clinics with perfect fundamentals.  People tend not to be quite as sound fundamentally as they think they are, so we can help.  There are usually lots of questions that golfers ask and we do our best to answer them all, and knowledge is power, so come and ask anything you want.  The amount of range balls you get to hit in most clinics is worth half the admission price. You get more than one instructor to offer suggestions and tips.  So basically the clinics are excellent value for the amount of information you get and the amount of range balls you get to hit (if applicable).  Truth is, I have several students who do both.  A gentleman who gave me credit for lowering his handicap 6 strokes because of a short game lesson I gave him still comes down and attends our clinics.  The value in a clinic is just hard to beat.
