Golf Lessons
Many people believe they don't need any instruction or help with their golf swing, but Jack Nicklaus had Jack Grout, Tiger Woods has Hank Haney, and Phil Mickelson works with both Dave Pelz and Butch Harmon. That should tell you that the aid of a trained eye can benefit anyone, and the higher your handicap the more you can benefit.
The golf swing is not natural, it is learned. A golfer must have the knowledge needed to make a good swing, then has to apply that knowledge. It sounds simple enough, but it isn't. The golf swing is a complex motor skill involving balance, coordination, and controlled ballistic movements, plus we have to have a mental plan that gives the body detailed instruction to make it all happen. Once we learn the basics of the swing and have the desire to improve, we need to learn what we want to do with a shot, how the club will react with the ball, how the ball will react with the ground, and the list goes on, so there is a lot of knowledge needed to play the game skillfully.
Here at Mountain Brook Golf Club we teach fundamentals that are proven and sound. Our instructors are well educated and experienced, they have worked with professional golfers, collegiate players, and amateurs of all levels. They know the physical and mental side of the game, and are ready to help you achieve your peak performance.

If you are tired of hitting weak drives, slices, hooks, or tops, or you want to work on the finer points of a good short game, hone that accurate swing, or develop that consistant putting stroke, then it is time to make an appointment to come and see us. Tuition is reasonable, and for the hours of enjoyment your new found knowledge will provide it could even be considered a bargain.
For those that aren't sure if an individual lesson will really help you that much, I suggest you give one of our clinics a try first. Clinics generally take place between October and April, and the price is very reasonable. This will give you an idea as to whether an individual lesson may be in order. Clinics work on specific aspects of the game, such as driving, short game, irons, fairway woods and more. Schedules and more information can be found on the Clinic Page.
Individual lessons are much more involved and the student and instructor can tailor a lesson specifically to the students needs. For instance, we may give the student a swing map that breaks down all the attributes of a golf swing, then based on that information write a prescription to help the student work on the specific aspects that will help them improve the most. The swing maps are a helpful tool and we keep a copy on file for future reference by student and instructor alike. Contact our Director of Instruction to schedule an appointment.
With a little effort on the students part and guidence by the instructor the results can be beautiful!
